This chapel is within the Protected Landscape of Vineyard Culture, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a 17th-century hermitage (the original building dates from 1653) built within a walled area, made of stone masonry, plastered and painted white, with moldings, cornerstones, and pinnacles in basalt stone. The façade is simple, with a door in the center topped by a window and ending with a belfry and cross. It is accessed via a cobbled road with the date '1877' inscribed on it.
It was the first Christian temple in Criação Velha. The feast in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary is still celebrated here in mid-October.
